THE BRITISH SOAP AWARDS 2023 VOTE: VOTING INTERACTION INFORMATION

Voting method and cost:

Viewers can vote for their favourite nominee in each of the following four (4) categories: Villain of the Year (“Villain of the Year category”), Best Young Performer (“Best Young Performer category”), Best Leading Performer (“Best Leading Performer category”), and Best British Soap (“Best British Soap category”) at The British Soap Awards 2023 (the “programme”). There will be two (2) rounds of public voting for each of these categories. You may register your vote by the following method:

Online:

Go to www.britishsoapawards.tv (the “website”) and follow the instructions there. Once you have voted you will receive a confirmation email. In order to complete the voting process and for your vote to be valid you must follow the validation procedure in the confirmation email received. If you do not follow this validation procedure before the deadline as specified, your vote will not be counted. There is no charge when voting via the website, although internet service providers’ fees may apply when you access the internet and these fees will not be refunded by ITV.

Please note that it is not possible to vote via any other method unless otherwise specified by the Promoter.

You must vote in every category for your vote to be valid and you can only vote for one nominee in each category.

Voting restrictions:

One (1) online vote per category may be submitted per email address during the first round of voting and one (1) online vote per category may be submitted per email address during the second round of voting. If you exceed these limits your vote will not be counted. For the avoidance of doubt the capping limits apply to each of the two (2) rounds of voting. You do not need to vote for the same nominee in each round.

Nominees:

First round voting –
The Villain of the Year category and the Best British Soap category will each contain a selection of five (5) nominees, the Best Young Performer Category will contain a selection of four (4) nominees and the Best Leading Performer category will contain a selection of twenty-five (25) nominees.

Second round voting –
The shortlist for the Villain of the Year category, the Best Young Performer category and Best British Soap category will contain the same nominees who were listed in the first round of voting. The Best Leading Performer category will contain the five (5) nominees who received the highest number of votes in the first round of voting.

Opening dates – first round voting:

First round voting via the website opens at 10:00am on 11 April 2023.

Closing time – first round voting:

First round voting closes at 5:00pm on 25 April 2023.

Opening times – second round voting:

Second round voting via the website opens at 10:00am on 2 May 2023.

Closing time – second round voting:

Second round voting closes at 5:00pm on 2 June 2023.

The Promoter is committed to operating the voting fairly, and to preventing abuse of the voting systems. For this reason, the Promoter reserves the right to disqualify and/or discount votes in the circumstances set out in clause 7 of the ITV General Competition, Prize Draw, Vote and Poll Terms and Conditions. These circumstances include (without limitation) where there has been excessive manipulation of the outcome of the voting, where votes have been made in breach of the Terms and Conditions, and where there has been any activity which unfairly advantages a voter or nominee or unfairly influences the outcome.

Voting results:

For the Best British Soap, Villain of the Year and Best Young Performer categories, the results from the first round voting will be carried over to the results for the second round voting stage, and the voting results will represent the accumulated votes achieved in both the first round voting and the second round voting stages.

For the Best Leading Performer category, all valid votes from the first round of voting are used for the purpose of determining the five (5) nominees who progress to the second round, and the voting results for those five (5) nominees will represent the accumulated votes achieved in both the first round voting and second round voting stages. The results of the first round voting in the category will be announced when the second round voting opens.

In the event of a tie in fifth place in the Best Leading Performer category in the first round voting, each of the tied nominees will advance to the second round voting. In the event of a tie in any of the categories in the second round voting, each of the nominees which receive the joint highest number of votes will share the award.

Winners will be announced at the British Soap Awards which will be broadcast on ITV at a time to be announced in June 2023.
